Solar specific heat transfer fluid development
Work on a new line of fluids specifically formulated for use in solar applications has been progressing well this week.
Solar applications tend to have unique concerns ranging from extremely high temperatures found in concentrated solar collectors to low temperature starts in both desert and northern applications. As temperatures drop during the evening hours a standard fluids viscosity can increase beyond the systems pumping capabilities rendering the system inoperable come morning. A recent formulation breakthrough has resulting in pour points as low as -80F while maintaining flashpoints well above 400F.
Promising preliminary testing could mean a product launch sometime next month….
